THEY DID IT!!!  45 days, 6 hours and 17 minutes

WOO HOO!!  Owen and Jayme rowed into Hanalei Bay on Thursday, July 27 at 10:17 a.m. local time.  They were greeted by local paddlers before the finish line who gave them guidance on the reefs and provided a blessing as they entered the bay!  After 45 days, 6 hours and 17 minutes Owen and Jayme became the first US mixed pairs team to cross the mid- Pacific.  Owen arrived wearing his Reno Aces Aloha shirt—A nod to our local team and his love of baseball.

The incredible staff of World’s Toughest Row helped Owen and Jayme off Lily into the surf as they hobbled onto land and into arms of family, friends and other rowers.  It was amazing to see so many of the other teams on the beach.    3 kids from the Hanalei Canoe Club sang traditional greetings and blessings and provided tea leaf and pikake leis to Owen and Jayme.  Formal photos were taken with the US flag and banners and Owen and Jayme shared stories of the Pacific with other rowers and local fans.

It was a gorgeous day at Hanalei Bay!
